Buttercream Frosting

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  1. In an electric mixer, cream the shortening and butter together.  Add vanilla.  Slowly add powdered sugar in cupfuls, combining well after each and scraping the sides of the bowl often.  Finish with milk and stir until just combined.  Makes about 3 cups.
